DNF’ing Books – Do you ? I do.

Guys.. I had to DNF a book last night. I am not entirely thrilled about it. It’s not something I like to do and I really struggle with it. I told myself this year that there is just too many books that I want to read to be bothered trying to struggle through the ones that aren’t piquing my interest.

That makes two books this year alone I have DNF’d.

In January I had started to read the DC Icons books. Have you heard of them? The concept was interesting to me, I mean I’ve been into comic books for generally as long as I can remember. Full length novels about some of my favorite heroes/anti heroes? Sign me up.

Currently the series has five books, each one written by a different author. Ill have more information about them down below, but I had started with the first book. Wonder Woman : Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo. I’m sure you have heard of Bardugo – her Grishaverse series was picked up by NetflixShadow & Bone will be coming out as a TV series the end of April.

I didn’t make it past the fifty page mark – I’m not writing Bardugo off though.

Last night I DNF’d my second book of the year. I started reading Lore by Alexandra Bracken. It’s a fairly popular book released in January of this year, it’s been all over #bookstagram for much longer, but I don’t know guys..I wasn’t digging it. I’m not quite at fifty pages.

Fifty pages is my dnf’ing zone.

So there we have it. I’ve DNF’d two books in three months. TWO! Maybe Ill try them again sometime but guys, there’s just literally more than a hundred books I want to read. There is 133 books sitting on my to be read shelf on my GoodReads account alone – & i know its not accurate, nor does it contain any new books coming out later this year.

Speaking of Goodreads – are you following me there? Click HERE if you would like to.

In the past when I have been burned by an author I don’t go back to them. Or at least I am never in a big hurry to read anything else by them and generally don’t end up going back to them. I told you I didn’t give up on Bardugo – when I put down Lore, I decided to start reading Shadow & Bone.

I’m already past the fifty page mark ! Loving it so far.

So there will be a review coming sometime next week for Shadow & Bone. I will also have my reviews for A Touch of Darkness & A Game of Fate by Scarlett St. Clair & The Storm and the Darkness by Sarah M. Cradit posted over the weekend. Probably Friday & Saturday, respectfully. I’m just working on the finishing touches, so make sure you are following me – you don’t want to miss them.

That’s it for today friends – But I want to know how you feel about DNF’ing books. What makes you not finish a book? Do you have a cut off like I do? Are you conflicted about DNF’ing? I always feel so bad, authors work hard to bring us novels !

DC ICONS (GoodReads)

These links will take you to the DC Icons GoodReads pages. Just because Wonder Woman wasn’t my cup of tea doesn’t mean they won’t be yours ! Definitely check them out – they don’t need to be read in any particular order. Personally, when I try them again I will be going for Black Canary : Breaking Silence ! Out of the five current books, I know the least about Dinah Lance, which I think will help me to enjoy the book more.

Book One – Wonder Woman : Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo

Book Two – Batman : Nightwalker – Marie Lu

Book Three – Catwoman : Soulstealer – Sarah J Maas

Book Four – Superman : Dawnbreaker – Matt de la Pena

Book Five – Black Canary : Breaking Silence – Alexandra Monir
