I received an arc of Purge With My Demons by Amiee Jo-Hunter in exchange for an honest review. As per usual, the fact that I received a free digital copy, will not affect my rating or review. I realize there is a lot of drama out there about arcs and I can guarantee you, I don’t give a fuck about the constraints some authors are putting on their arc readers. It doesn’t matter if I signed up for the arc, or the author reached out to me. I will not promote or rate something a certain way just because I received it for free. Also, I do legitimately read the arcs. Start to finish.

1. What is Owen that he’s turning into a crow? Yes, I know, demon is in the title.

3. Side note: I seem to be having a problem with arcs and not being able to highlight them. wtf Kobo. wtf.

Purge With My Demons Review

Minor Spoilers

Purge With My Demons is the first book in Amiee-Jo Hunter’s Death’s Nevermind series. Written in dual-pov style we follow the once human, now demon, Owen & the currently human, Nor.

I really enjoyed the premise of Purge With My Demons, but the execution fell a bit short for me. I also felt like it could have been edited better. As a personal preference, it was missing the lyrical flow I like and felt a bit choppy. However, the characters were enjoyable and the plot was intriguing.

Lucifer is retiring.

The King of Hell is stepping away from the throne, but first a new Queen must rise. The very unique demon, Owen, has been tasked by his jerk of a boss to track her down. Torturing and murdering any demon with even an inkling of who it may be. Our dear Owen has other things on his mind though-like the fact he just found his missing soul in a woman named Nor.

I really enjoyed Nor and I am interested in reading more of her backstory. Particularly with the twists at the end. I do wish she was a bit more apprehensive but with the whole soul mate trope, I get her being chill. I am invested in Owen’s history as well. His seems a bit more complex and I have questions.
