Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco
Minor Spoilers
The Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco was utterly amazing. I fell in love & cannot praise this book enough. I’ve been trying to think of something I didn’t like about it. Other then book two not coming out until October 2021 & it not being in my hands right this second – I haven’t managed to come up with anything.
Told from the first person perspective of Emilia, an eighteen year old witch & twin to Vittoria. When her sister is murdered – & by murdered I mean had her heart ripped out by a mysterious man in a cloak (!) – Emilia sets out on a path of revenge and vengeance. And what a path it was. Our heroine, after dabbling in the forbidden dark arts, finds herself in the company of one of the seven deadly sins personified – Wrath. One very delicious Wicked Prince of Hell & the demon she just happened to betroth herself to upon summoning him to the land of the living.(!)
Demon & Witch – enemies working together to unravel the mystery of who killed Vittoria and why. There isn’t just one demon in town though, two of Wrath’s brothers are also on the loose. With the gates to hell opening, even lesser demons are slipping through – & any one of them could have murdered poor Vittoria.
I loved the pacing of this book. There wasn’t a dull moment. Kerri didn’t slow down once as she weaved her twisted tale. I loved that it was all story. Events were so quickly unfolding into the next; there was no time to stop and smell the flowers. If you are looking to be emerged in a world where you can practically smell those flowers, this isn’t for you. If you are looking for a fast paced exciting read filled with suspense & desire on every page then look no further.
I didn’t want Wrath & Emilia’s story to end. But it did & what an ending it was…with one final twist of the knife Kerri left me begging for more. This is the first book I have read by Kerri Maniscalco & I can not wait to read more !
