L.O.R.D.S by Shantel Tessier: An interconnected stand alone dark college romance series.

The L.O.R.D.S series by Shantel Tessier is a dark and intense college romance series. The L.O.R.D.S is a secret society operating by its own set of brutal rules. The men are morally ambiguous, powerful, possessive, and capable of intense passion and ruthless cruelty. The women, nothing but a toy to be used by the men who own them.

I devoured this series.

The men of Tessier’s world are walking, talking red flags. The secret society they are raised in forces them to preform multiple initiations, usually murder. Or face death themselves. To control the young initiates, they must also abstain from sex for three years. Their reward for compliance? A Chosen One. The daughter of a Lord. And they can do whatever the fuck they want to their Chosen One.

The women are raised to be their playthings.

I really like the overarching story that is happening throughout the series. I’m interested in seeing it wrapped up. At the moment, there is a seventh book coming. No information is available other than the title, Chaotic. I am curious about who this book will be about, and if the series will continue after it is published.

Each installment in the L.O.R.D.S series is about a different Lord and his Chosen One or Lady. They all end with a happily ever after time jump of about eighteen years. I’ve been wondering if Tessier is going to go the route of Rina Kent. – Will we get a second series in this universe about the children?

I mostly listened to the audio versions of these. Up until this year, audio books were not for me but I’ve really been enjoying dual narration audio books lately.

Our first introduction to the secret society is through Ryat and Blakely. The Ritual was probably my favorite out of the series, so far. Although I did really enjoy Madness as well, there is just something about your first. The Ritual, in my opinion, is the least kinky and taboo of the series. It’s tame in comparison to The Sinner, Sabotage, or Carnage for instance.

We first meet Sin in The Ritual. His Chosen One, Elli is possibly the most damaged female of the series. The girl has had one traumatic experience after the other in her life. She’s a pawn moving around the chess board ready to be sacrificed at any moment.

We delve deeper into the overall story in The Ritual. The members of The Lords are shown to be extremely twisted and manipulative. They care about no one but themselves and their own personal goals, even at the detriment of their own children.

The Sacrifice : A Dark Revenge Romance Review

Tyson Crawford is out for revenge & he’s willing to wait as long as it takes to get it. I was excited to get to The Sacrifice after all the Tyson breadcrumbs in The Ritual and The Sinner. Tessier did not disappoint.

Tyson falls from grace after the death of his Chosen One and runs a club for The Lords. I really liked that we were out of the college setting, not that these people go to school. The Lords set their members up for success. They plant them in positions of power and buy their way to the top of the food chain.

The Lords proclaim they will protect their own but they failed to protect Tyson’s Chosen One. His reward? His choice of Lady, no questions asked. Tyson chooses the sister of his Chosen One, Laikyn.

Sabotage is my least favorite of the series. Toxic doesn’t even begin to explain the relationship between Colton & Raylee. Also, he’s not technically a Lord but both characters are deep in the world of the Lords.

I think I just felt so fucking bad for Elli I couldn’t get over it. Elli owns her trauma though, and is a compelling character because of it. Her mother might be the worst character in the whole series.

The overall plot thickens in Sabotage.

We have moved away from the college setting completely now, and with that our characters are a bit older. Carnage is introduced in the previous books as a prison of sorts. Once sent there, Lords are never seen or heard from again.

Saint and his two brothers run Carnage for the Lords. The plot continues to thicken with twists and turns galore. I really liked Saint. Ashton on the other hand was not my favorite FMC of the series.

Madness : A Dark Revenge Romance Review

Madness is about one of the Carnage brothers, Hayden, and picks up on plot threads from Carnage.

The overall story is really coming together in Madness and I was there for it. The parents have been up to some nefarious shit throughout their children’s lives and its coming to a head.

Like Tyson, I was really looking forward to Hayden’s story. Especially after all the hoopla in Carnage. I ended up liking the plot to Madness more than Carnage. There was a lot going on in this book and I loved every second of it.
