Review

Resisting Temptation by N.J. Weeks

“I need to see if your dick is as big as the energy it gives off. All signs are pointing to yes, but until I see and feel for myself, I can’t be too sure.”

Resisting Temptation is the second book in N.J. Weeks interconnected contemporary romance series, Tempting the Heart. Yes you read that right, I did indeed read a contemporary romance and there’s not a dark label to be found. please, hold your applause until the end. Awhile ago I read Beneath the Dirt and shorty after that, Weeks had an opening on their permanent arc team and now here we are. As always my dudes, these are my honest thoughts and opinions.

I’ve never felt this way before. Admired. Truly admired. Not just for my looks but for who I am. Good, bad, and all the weirdness in between. Protected.

Resisting Temptation starts off as a one night stand between our two main characters, Sarina & Tomás. Only neither one of them know he is her best friends brother or that she’s about to become his employee. hello forbidden love. Here’s the thing though, her dad is a a top tier asshole and the next thing you know Tomás and Sarina are secretly married. I really liked their love story. I thought it was cute. Sarina & Tomás had traumatic yet very different childhoods. They are two wildly different people but they fit together, complimenting and elevating each other.

“Mr. Ramos, did you just come in your pants because I’m on your lap.”

Tomás is a good guy and Sarina cannot believe it. Nothing against Tomás but the bar is in hell. Tomás is a kind, respectful man who asks for consent. He knows Sarina doesn’t need a knight in shining armor to save her but he’s right behind her for support, if and when she needs it. He has morals and ethics and is a good example of what men can learn from book boyfriends in romance novels. So if that’s your jam, I think you will love Resisting Temptation and will be swooning over Tomás & Sarina.

I don’t know what years of being with assholes has done to alter my brain, but here I am, having this perfect —inside and out— man, on his knees for me, and I’m questioning if I deserve to feel the way he’s making me feel.

If you are wondering if you need to read the first book, Indulging Temptation, the answer is no. I didn’t realize this was a series when it showed up in my inbox and jumped right in. That being said, I don’t think I will read the first book. and that’s nothing against Weeks or her writing, this type of romance is just not for me. I am a creature of the dark and my reading preferences reflect that. If this was my preferred genre however, I would read it. I liked the friend group and the first book is about Tomás’ sister and his best friend.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Resisting Temptation Quotes

I feel like that requires some sort of conversation first. One that we haven’t had, so even if her subconscious is giving me the green light, I need to refrain until I get the verbal okay from her.

If it wasn’t for her pulling back, clearly with more to say, I wouldn’t stop for air. With her on my lips, who needs it?

I want you to feel comfortable enough with me to make your problems mine. For as long as I’m allowed to play the role of your husband, you’re my wife. That means I’ll do anything you need me to.
