House of Eclipses Review
Minor Spoilers
Another knockout from Casey L Bond.
House of Eclipses is book #1 in Bond’s House of Eclipses duology. Bond dreams up some amazing storylines. House of Eclipses follows the lovely Noor, whom we meet during the funeral of her father’s eighth wife. Noor’s father, The Aten, has killed them all, including Noor’s mother. Tragedy builds amazing characters, and Noor is no different. The Aten hates his daughter and shows her as much frequently.
Sol & Lumos
If you are familiar with mythology, you will see the connections between ancient myths & Bond’s story. If you are unaware of any myths surrounding the moon & sun, you are in for a treat. You are in for a treat even if you have heard the ancient myths. Bond has built a richly imaginative world and culture around the two magnificent orbs.
Helios, The Kingdom of Day.
Lumina, The Kingdom of Night.
“When the great divide happened, the gods cleaved the earth in two and divided it among their peoples. Sol built Helios in her inherited northern portion, while Lumos created Lumina among his bottom half of the world. “
House of Eclipses is a beautiful story of love, loss and longing. The Kingdom of Day is dying. Sol has perched herself high in the sky above Helios and hasn’t moved, scorching and killing the land of Helios. No one has seen the moon in decades. Lumos dwells in the land of Lumina, and while he rises and falls, he does not leave his kingdom. Sol never shines in Lumina, and now, their land is dying.
I loved everything about House of Eclipses.
The new Lumin of The Kingdom of the Moon has requested to meet with The Aten. He wishes to forge a treaty between their two lands for peace and prosperity. And Lumos willing, a marriage. The Aten has other plans, taking his two younger daughters along and commanding them to steal the Crown of Night. He wants both the power of the sun and the moon.
Love and Romance bloom between Noor and The Lumin.
Noor has no intentions of stealing the crown for her father. She seeks the crown for herself to save Sol, Helios & her people from her father’s cruelty. I loved the blooming romance that grew between Noor and The Lumin, Caelum. It was beautiful to read as Noor opened up to Caelum, and the two fell in love.
” We’ve barely spoken, but it feels like you’re a siren and have already dragged me into the depths. “

Her delicate features shrouded her harsh, greedy heart from most people, but I knew her best.
The whites of my mother’s eyes had burst with red, too. A sight that still haunted me to this day.
Every word I’d spoken was retribution for every second he held her throat and refused to let go – until the light bled from her golden eyes.
…was preserved like the bits of bone entrenched in the sand.
Many considered me a princess, when I knew I was a queen.
Perhaps the goddess of gold and fire’s mercy had burnt away, leaving nothing but uncontrollable anger, her grace drying like the deserts breaking into tiny grains, mounded like the encroaching sand dunes.
Where my heart should be, a cold, darkness took root, desolate and lonely as the shifting sands.
It would feel like an arrow struck his heart at the same time I plunged a dagger into his back.
He only cares about the person’s heart and whether it aligns with his, and whether the person’s ambition is strong enough to carry out his will.
Every time Father tried to beat me down, he built me into something stronger and more indestructible.
Stuck in a perpetual cycle of longing for something we could never have.
