“You’ll be shouting my name, Camilla. I will be your God, your Creator, your Destroyer, and every depraved dark thing in between. And I promise you’ll find religion on my cock. You’ll get on your knees for it, pray for it, worship it with every fiber of your being.”

A few years ago I read the Kingdom of the Wicked series by Kerri Maniscalco. I really liked it but did find the final book, Kindgom of the Feared to be a bit of a let down. I liked the idea of the seven deadly sins personified through demons and wanted more of them. Color me excited when I heard Maniscalco would be continuing to write about the Princes of Sin in an adult series.
It’s taken me awhile to get to the Prince of Sin series, but here we are.
Spoilers Sweetie: Jump to my final thoughts to avoid them.

Throne of the Fallen Review
If he was the Lord of Syn, she’d happily become the worst sinner there was.
The Prince of Envy stars in Kerri Maniscalco’s Throne of the Fallen, the first installment in the Prince of Sin series. While Kingdom of the Wicked is a young adult trilogy focusing only on the Prince of Wrath, Prince of Sin is an adult interconnected standalone series focusing on Wrath’s brothers. I was so excited for this series, and so far it’s been a bit of a let down.
The room chilled further Envy had little power to spare but didn’t bother trying to hide his darkening mood. Camilla was his.
Throne of the Fallen in my opinion could have been so much better than it was. Both Envy and his love interest, Camilla, sucked. Envy’s arrogance and Camilla’s challenging nature became repetitive and annoying. And it never stops. Neither really grows as a character or has any significant development. In fact, their whole shtick is simply keeping secrets and lying their pants off.
She’d romanticized him again. Giving him a golden halo while ignoring the fact that his had broken long ago. Because he’d shattered it.
The House of Envy is on the verge of complete ruin. Envy has misplaced a powerful artifact that keeps his house in check. To get it back he must compete in a deadly game orchestrated by the Unseelie King, Lennox. Dear Camilla finds herself involved in this deadly game when Envy comes knocking at her door. He needs Camilla’s unique talents to paint a throne, a hexed throne. Camilla has a unique gift among the mortals, channeling the essence of her subject into her paintings. And if that doesn’t sound very mortal like, it’s because it’s not.
Maybe they were both damned, wicked things, broken in all the right places so they lined up, jagged edge to smooth.
I wish there had been more focus on the game itself but it was just a thing happening in the background. The real focus was on the physical attraction and sexual tension between Envy & Camilla. It overshadows the plot. To top it off, the lust between Envy & Camilla felt superficial with no real emotional connection between the two characters. And in my opinion, if you are going to go that route, go all in. Because honestly, it wasn’t that great and the whole thing felt more young adult, than adult. I mostly found the language to be adult coded. Whereas the rest of the story did not. But I’m old.. what do I know?
Her savage side called to his.

Or maybe they were a comet, destined to crash.
“My only problem,” he said, gently nipping at her fingertips, “is that I want you.”
“Good. Praying at the altar of your body is one of the only ways to get a sinner like me on my knees. I promise I’m going to worship every inch of you Starting with this incredible, wet pussy.”
“You taste like sin, Camilla.”
Sometimes two people weren’t meant to be more than one moment. Wondrous and unforgettable though it might be, not all good things were meant to last.
He didn’t know the first thing about being a hero, but he excelled at being the villain.
